And HI AGAIN!

After 12 years of working in marketing for various corporations (among them ICQ – AOL’s branch in Israel and Unilever) I decided that I'm experienced enough (he-he) to start my own business - marketing strategy consulting, development of corporate ID's, branding, graphic design of marketing materials, web-design and development...

Dealing with my clients I notices that in spite of "knowing" that marketing is very important, the only thing they really know is that they HAVE to do a certain amount of generally accepted "marketing moves". And they have to do them not because it can help, but because without them their company (or product) won't "look" serious.
Has anyone of you ever noticed this phenomenon?
Almost all of them got great innovative products or developed really appealing services and these people are convinced that it's enough. For some mysterious reason they naively believe that if their product is good, it will sell and there is nothing much to do about it, neither in terms of developing corporate identity, nor in branding or advertising...
Luckily I came across very nice quotation, which says:

Next to doing the right thing,
the most important thing
is to let people know
you are doing the right thing.

Being said by Rockefeller this helps :))) People actually start paying attention to their promotional activities and materials. It helps to convince them to do the right thing.
